Become a client

You can open a free account and become a client entirely online within ten minutes. DEGIRO uses derived bank identification to confirm your identity, meaning there is no complicated paperwork to fill in.

If you make your first payment transfer to your DEGIRO account via SOFORT your account will typically be opened immediately. You can also transfer funds via a manual transfer which takes generally 2-3 working days to be processed and allocated to your account.

We verify the identity of the party opening the DEGIRO account using a process called bank derived identification. In order to use bank derived identification, we require the name on the bank account to be the same as that used during the registration process.

Once the initial payment is received and identification confirmed, your account will be opened. This payment must be made from the registered bank account.

The minimum of this transfer is £0.01 so you can transfer a small sum to open the account before funding it with a larger amount.

DEGIRO does not provide demo-accounts because opening an account with DEGIRO is very quick, with no minimum deposit and is non-binding. To gain access to our platform, interested parties can open an account by completing the registration here.

To open an account, you will need to have an EU/Norwegian/Swiss bank account in your name, the details of which should be registered to your DEGIRO account. All transfers must be made only from and to the bank account that is registered with DEGIRO and matches your name.

At this time, you are able to use bank accounts from the following countries to open an account with DEGIRO:

Accepted: EU countries (with the below exceptions), Norway, Switzerland

Not accepted: Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta and Romania.

For an account on the UK platform, we require a mainland UK bank account in GBP to be registered to your DEGIRO account. Unfortunately we cannot accept transfers from UK overseas territories or Crown dependencies such as Jersey, Guernsey, Gibraltar, or Isle of Man.

It is possible to open an account with DEGIRO. However, to open an account with DEGIRO, you must have and maintain a bank account in a country which DEGIRO can accept. You must register to your DEGIRO account a bank account held in your name. You will use this bank account for depositing and withdrawing money from your DEGIRO account. There are some countries where the residency means you would be unable to become a client of DEGIRO, for further information contact the service desk.

In order to verify the identity of the party opening the account, we must verify that the name you register with DEGIRO matches entirely with the name on the bank account. Therefore, we ask that you register with all first, middle, and last names.

In case of a discrepancy such as a missing name, our Service Desk will contact you directly to request additional information.

If under IRS guidelines you could be considered a US person, we unfortunately cannot provide our services to you.

We are currently working to offer ISA accounts to our UK clients. If you would like to be notified when this feature is added, please contact our Service Desk at clients@degiro.co.uk and request to be added to the list of clients to be notified.

Unfortunately we cannot open an account on the behalf of an investment club.

However, if your club in a registered as a legal entity, you can open an account as a single Corporate Client.

Yes, certainly. First you must register a Corporate Account through the website of DEGIRO by completing the online registration with the details of the company. Once your request has been received we will ask you to provide us with the following information:

  • Signed Corporate Acceptance Form by Legal Representatives (directors)
  • Recent (not older than three months) and official copy of the registration with the Chamber of Commerce (or corresponding document for your country)
  • Copy of the notarised and signed bylaws (articles of association/statutes)
  • Copy of ID or passport of Legal Representatives (directors) signing contract
  • UBO Declaration Form signed by Legal Representatives
  • Copy of ID or passport of all UBO’s as specified on the UBO Declaration Form
  • W8-BEN-E signed by Legal Representatives

You must make a payment from the registered bank account. Bank account linked to the DEGIRO account must be registered in the name of the Legal Entity and must be from one of the countries accepted by DEGIRO.

Once we have verified all the received documentation, we will inform you that you have been accepted as a client. Upon receiving the money transfer, the Corporate Account will be activated and you will be able to trade as basic or custody client.

If you meet the necessary criteria, you may be able to open a Professional Account with DEGIRO.
